There are many excellent colored pencil brands available today, with some of the leading labels Caran D'Arche (Switzerland), Conte (France), Faber Castell (Germany), Talens (Netherlands) and Koh-i-Noor (Czech Republic). Each pencil brand has its own loyal following, and it is certainly true that the performance of the individual leaves a unique "signature" on the paper (ie, the trained eye can sometimes tell what brand of pencil for another work of art wasTest luminance, reflection, color depth, etc.). I have used all these brands myself, brought back from Europe whole sets of different manufacturers, and often in different sub-types ("Artist", "student" and so on). Some have even touched that really shine a pencil set, including rounded triangular to minimize shaft with fine inlaid handle, bonded between the tip and the pencil lead from wood staggering, and soft textured surfaces for extra grip improvedand comfort. Some will stick now developed even on the light fastness specifications by the pencil Society of America.

So, did what we should have a series of American Think pencils when they colored with these leading brands in the competition, some of which has been in business for centuries? The answer may surprise you to hear: after using all these for a long time, I can say that these Prismacolor Premier hold "pencils easilythe world's best against the crayons.

What are the characteristics of the Prismacolor Premier pencils that make them so good?

1st Smooth, silky and rich color laydown
2nd Little smeared, including the establishment of the dense areas of color
3rd Ability to mix colors as needed
4th Wide range of colors available
5th Relatively inexpensive (compared to other premium brands)
6th The availability of the Prisma Color "Verithin" pencil sets, twice the colors of the "Premier" line of pencil pencil (lead matched by color code), but in an extremely hard, that a high degree of sharpness of detail work that can not wear out so quickly.

At first glance it might seem that this Prisamacolor pencils are expensive, but when one reflects on the fact that some of the "esoteric" (can run for lack of a better word) pencils upwards of $ 3 - $ 4 per pencil, Prisma Colors are nothing less than a bargain. (If youHunt long enough, you can even find the large set of 120 pencils in a case that comes with two-step wooden house and feed to your collection, you will still pay much less per pencil as other high-end brands.)
But the proof is certainly in the implementation. Get one of these in your hands, and put some paint on a sheet of paper and see if you have other experiences do exactly what I'm describing here. These are rich and smooth, almost creamy feel with leads. This is not to say that one pointthem up to a needle, you can, but you have to be careful, do not press too much when it is broken to the point. You can also define a point in this blunt much of the rich, deep color. (Even this pairing with the "Verithin" set can be very helpful work for details).

Are these pencils perfectly? No, there are a few questions about some of the smaller but still relevant for this post:

1st Lead seems to be a shocking subject for theCompany. My first sentence was not less than 10% of the pencils shaken all the way down to the end, rendering useless all those colors. This is either a manufacturing problem or some improvement in cases where the pencils needed to be transported and sold in order to further reduce the impact from the market. It is an unacceptable outcome when buying a large pencil set.
2nd Along these same lines, it would be nice if Prismacolor could in Staedler uses technology similar to that in the viewhis crayons to reduce an inner coating of the material between the tip and the timber to rupture. I've never had one break yet Staedler pencil on me. Not one.
3rd The triangular waves of both the Faber Castell pencils, Staedler and I believe a superior design than the round shape of the Primscolors, allowing greater control and improved comfort.
4th To improve the Prisma Colors not some kind of friction coating on the outside of the grip pencils. Both Staedler and Faber Castell to do (and in different ways), and adds it immeasurably, and their performance characteristics.
5th can identify the pressure on the shaft of Prismacolor color name and code almost unreadable, with vague, imprecise writing. In some lighting conditions, the marks are almost impossible to read. (Seems the latest editions of the Prisma Colors have addressed this, but not always count on the box sets in the near future, to existingStock is sold and replaced with new models.)
6th The Prisma Colors are not "finished" at the end with any kind of cap or closure, and the unsharpened pencils also arrive. (Compare the Faber Castells, both mounted and are fully sharpened in a way that makes them resistant to any type of breakage during transportation, even these, like most other brands, have a nice end cap at the end of the pencil. )

Let me be clear. These small quibbles all fall away as soon as you get onethis in hand, an experience of how to run it. These are simply a joy to use, and many artists swear by them. After using them myself, I can see why. I am still very impressed produced with the best offers from Europe, but this Prismacolor pencils deserve to be counted among them the right. If she always addressed my little quibbles above, they could vie for a role as the de facto standard with one or two of the most expensive brands three times its price.
Five Starsof performance. Five stars for the price. Five stars for fun. And five stars for rich, creamy, deep color!

Note: Although these pins come in many sizes of the set, I recommend the 72 color. This gives you a wide range of colors, and walk not in the problems with the larger sets, where multiple colors, so close together you can not just see the difference. Of course, if you want the nice wooden case, you need to get placed 120th
